It is an all-encompassing field which deals with financial planning, markets and investments and performance monitoring in line with the market performance along with other allied activities.

Who can apply for the courses?

An individual who wants to learn the exciting world of wealth management and/or build a career in the promising field of wealth management. The individual can be a final year student, a graduate or post-graduate or a profession from across any stream.

What is the selection process?

  • Program in Wealth Management
    • An interested candidate needs to fill up the “Apply Now” form on the site
    • Thereafter an Academic Counselling team member will call and seek additional necessary information
    • OAWA’s Admission office will then vet the application
    • The shortlisted candidates will be invited for a discussion over a video call with the Course Director

Is there an option of scholarship for students?

OAWA Academy has a provision to provide full or partial scholarships to its students. The scholarship is available to meritorious and deserving students basis their application, past academic record and financial need. The students need to apply to the scholarship screening committee.

Who is eligible to apply for the scholarship program?

The scholarship will be granted on the basis of academic merit and financial need. The applicant who has received a firm offer and desirous of a scholarship needs to apply at scholarship@oawa.in with all the past academic records and any other document they feel which justify the application. The scholarship committee will screen all applicants basis the information available.

Do you think six months is sufficient to learn Wealth Management?

The Program covers all the critical elements necessary to be a wealth manager. The learner will have access to intensive learning materials, including e-learning, live faculty sessions, textbooks, wealth management playbook, learner helpdesk, and guest lectures by industry professionals. The learning journey has been created to enable the student to learn the technical knowledge through a blend of theory and use cases and the soft skills necessary to be a successful wealth manager.

How would it compare with an MBA in Finance?

This Program is an intensive six-month program targeted to learners looking to enter the industry as a Wealth Manager. This program is also ideal for an existing professional looking to upskill, or a professional looking for a career reboot. A typical MBA is a two-year course covering general management in the first year and then specialisation in the second year.

Can it be pursued while working?

Yes. The weekend sessions will be suitable for working professionals.

When will the classes be held?

The batch will be split into two sections. There will be a section wherein the classes will be held on weekdays and the classes for the other section will be held on weekends. The Academy will attempt to allot classes as per the learners preference.

What’s the duration of every class?

The learners who select the classes over weekdays have to attend a 90mins class every day from Monday-Friday. The learners who select the classes over weekends need to attend a 210min class on Saturday and Sunday. The classes on the weekdays will be held in the morning and also in the evening. The learner is free to join the class of their choice. The weekend classes are for the convenience of the working professionals or any learner who is preoccupied on weekdays.

Can someone with no background in Finance apply for this course?

This course requires no prior knowledge or experience in Finance. Students and professionals from any discipline can apply for this course. The course begins from the basics of Finance and economic theories and builds on them with use cases, theory and requisite practical exposure.

What is the duration of each module?

The duration of the module will vary as per the topic.

Can someone skip few modules if they have prior knowledge and wants to straight take the monthly assessment?

Every learner is expected to attend the classes and complete the modules even if they have prior knowledge of a particular module.

Will extra classes be provided if someone needs assistance?

The learning journey of the program has been designed to meet the requirements of varied students. Along with live classes, the students will have access to the knowledge pool through content, textbook, and e-library. The students are also encouraged to set up sessions with the faculty and teaching associates post their classes.

Can someone pick and choose some module and take training in that?

All students enrolling in the Programme have to complete the entire course. The learner needs to successfully clear all the assessments(both monthly and the terminal), upon which the certificate will be awarded.

What do you mean by soft skill?

The soft-skills training, will form the differentiator when the learner enters the industry. The training will cover multiple facets of interpersonal skills covering communication, etiquette, public speaking, presentation skills, relationship management, negotiations, sales closure, and the art of influencing. How essential is the Soft skill training?

Soft skills training is an essential element in the entire course curriculum. The skills learned will be tested when out in the field. There will be multiple modules in the soft skills section and will be spaced over 30 hours of in-class training.

Will there be assessment in soft skills?

Yes, there will be periodic assessments throughout the program. The soft skills trainers will be conducting select assessments.

What do you mean by client acquisition?

Client acquisition means onboarding a client to avail the services of a wealth manager.

This is an online course. This enables everyone across any location across the country with a laptop, PC, smartphone, or pad to access the program. A laptop is preferred over other devices. The 150 hours in-class sessions over six months will require a time commitment of either 90 mins on weekdays or 210 mins on weekends. The students can choose the class either on a weekday or on the weekend. The learners will be under the guidance of the teaching staff, ensuring timely completion of the coursework and preparation for the assignments.

Is there a possibility of one-on-one student faculty interaction?

Yes, there will be an option available to the students for interacting with faculty on a one-on-one basis. The students need to reach out to the faculty and set up a predefined timeslot for the same. The students are encouraged to use this option judiciously since the faculty needs to apportion the time. The students are always welcome to reach out to the faculty in smaller groups and more frequently.

There are several anonymous salary survey providers in India. As per the www.glassdoor.co.in the national average salary (as of 18th July’21), a wealth manager is ~ 7.5 lakhs per annum. The earnings of accomplished wealth managers with some reasonable years of experience can be over crore a year.

Why hasn’t wealth management gone beyond the top 3% of the population?

Wealth management as a profession has been mostly kept within the family, and so far, just a handful of clients have reached out to seek professional advice. Now, with the expansion of the asset markets across both financial and non-financial segments and the advent of the software industry and the new-age tech companies, there is an apparent emergence of a wealthy population. This additional demand for wealth managers is almost eight times the existing market (source Credit Suisse Global wealth report, Oct’20). Till now, the absence of an industry-relevant curriculum has kept professionals away from promising careers. This has led to a significant gap opening up between demand and supply of wealth managers.

Is there a clear linkage between GDP growth and Wealth?

There is a weak linkage between GDP and Wealth. GDP calculates the income of an economy for the previous year or a period in the past. In contrast, Wealth measures the value of all its assets, including domestic and foreign investments. There can be scenarios where the GDP growth might be weak, but there may be growth in the nation's wealth and vice-versa.

Is the 5 Trillion a credible assumption?

India hit the USD 3.0tn market cap in May’21. The market cap-GDP ratio approach suggests India can attain $ 5 trillion market cap by 2026, if nominal GDP were to grow at an 8% CAGR in USD terms, with a market cap-GDP ratio of 130%.

The earnings growth approach suggest the milestone could be attained by 2027 if listed companies were to post a profit CAGR of 15% with a 3% CAGR depreciation in USD-INR, assuming the current valuation sustains.
