Is there an option of scholarship for students?

OAWA has a provision to provide full or partial scholarships to its students. The scholarship is available to meritorious and deserving students basis their application, past academic record and financial need. The students need to apply to the scholarship screening committee separately.

Who is eligible to apply for the scholarship program?

The scholarship will be granted based on academic merit and financial need. The applicant who has received a firm offer and is desirous of a scholarship must apply at scholarship@oawa.in with all the past academic records and any other document they feel justifies the application. The scholarship committee will screen all applicants basis the information available.

Do you think the six-month Program in Wealth Management is sufficient to learn Wealth Management for someone from the general stream?

The Program covers all the critical elements necessary to be a wealth manager. The learner will access intensive learning materials, including e-learning, live faculty sessions, recorded self-learning modules, a wealth management playbook, a learner's helpdesk, and guest lectures by industry professionals. The learning journey has been created to enable the student to learn the technical knowledge through a blend of theory and use cases and the soft skills necessary to be a successful wealth manager.

How would the three-month and six-month programs compare with an MBA in Finance?

Both Programs are targeted to learners looking to enter the industry as a Wealth Manager or for upskilling. The three-month program is ideal for an existing professional looking to upskill or a professional looking for a career reboot. A typical MBA is a two-year course covering general management in the first year and then specialisation in the second year.

Can it be pursued while working?

Yes. For working executives, the classes are held either in the evening or weekend. One needs to select appropriate batches.

When will the classes be held?

The classes are held two days a week. It's held in the evening (on weekdays) and mornings (on weekends). Please check with the counsellor for the timetable of your batch. The timetable is subject to change depending on the holiday calendar.

What’s the duration of every class?

The classes are for 60-90 mins, depending on the module. The classes on soft skills may be up to 120 mins

What is the duration of each module?

The duration of the modules varies as per the topic.

Can someone skip few modules if they have prior knowledge and wants to straight take the monthly assessment?

Every learner is expected to attend the classes and complete the modules even if they have prior knowledge of a particular module.

Will extra classes be provided if someone needs assistance?

The learning journey of the Program has been designed to meet the requirements of varied students. The students will access the knowledge pool through content, reference materials and e-library. The students are also encouraged to set up sessions with the faculty, and teaching associates post their classes.

Can someone pick and choose some module and take training in that?

The learners need to complete the entire course. The certificate will be awarded only on successful completion of the whole Program.

What do you mean by soft skill?

The soft-skills training will be a differentiator when the learner enters the industry. The learning journey will be a combination of activity-based live sessions and self-learning (to be delivered by Deakin Co, Australia). The live sessions will be delivered by acclaimed trainers who have provided similar training to senior corporate executives. Depending on the enrolled Program, the training will cover all or part of the following skills: interpersonal skills, including communication, etiquette, public speaking, presentation skills, relationship management, negotiations, sales closure, and the art of influencing.

How essential is the Soft skill training?

Soft skills training is an essential element in the 3-month and the 6-month duration programs. There will be multiple modules in the soft skills section, and they will be spaced over the entire Program.

Will there be assessment in soft skills?

Yes, there will be periodic assessments throughout the Program. The soft skills trainers will be conducting select assessments.

What do you mean by client acquisition?

Client acquisition means onboarding a client to avail of the services of a wealth manager.

This is an online course. This enables everyone across any location with a laptop, PC, smartphone, or pad and stable wifi to access the Program. A laptop is preferred over other devices. The most significant benefit of live online classes is that students from faraway locations can now enrol for this Program conducted by acclaimed faculties.

Is this online class with teachers taking live classes?

Yes, there will be faculty comprising distinguished teachers conducting live classes as per the schedule. This ensures that all the relevant concepts are explained in the class and also in post-class doubt-clearing sessions.

The Program(s) are synchronised lessons wherein live classes will be held by faculty using intensive course material, including immersive e-learning materials. Yes, there will be an option available for the students to interact with faculty one-on-one. The students need to reach out to the faculty and set up a predefined timeslot for the same. Why hasn't wealth management gone beyond the top 3% of the population?

Wealth management as a profession has been mostly kept within the family, and so far, just a handful of clients have reached out to seek professional advice. Now, a wealthy population has emerged with the expansion of the asset markets across both financial and non-financial segments and the advent of the software industry and new-age tech companies. This additional demand for wealth managers is almost eight times the existing market (source Credit Suisse Global wealth report, Oct' 21). Till now, the absence of an industry-relevant curriculum has kept professionals away from promising careers. This has led to a widening gap between the demand and supply of wealth managers.

Is there a clear linkage between GDP growth and Wealth?

There is a weak linkage between GDP and Wealth. GDP calculates the income of an economy for the previous year or a period in the past. In contrast, wealth measures the value of all its assets, including domestic and foreign investments. There can be scenarios where the GDP growth might be weak, but there may be growth in the nation's wealth and vice-versa.

India hit the USD 3.0tn market cap in May '21. The market cap-GDP ratio approach suggests India can attain a $5 trillion market cap by 2026 if nominal GDP grows at an 8% CAGR in USD terms, with a market cap-GDP ratio of 130%.
